International Workers’ Day (also known as May Day) is a celebration of the international movement by labourers. May 1 is a national holiday in more than 80 countries and celebrated unofficially in many other countries. May Day is a nationwide bank and public holiday in India. International Workers’ Day is the commemoration of the 1886 haymarket affair in Chicago. The police were trying to disperse a public assembly during a general strike demanding a work-day of eight hours when an unidentified person threw a bomb at them. The police reacted by firing on the workers, killing four demonstrators. Since then, we observe May Day to unify the labourer community all over the world for a dignified living and to liberate this community from the jaws of capitalists. Still a major percentage of labourers in India are also suffering. My labourers’ union i.e. the Bolani Mazdoor Sangh has been working tirelessly for accessing all the legitimate claims of each labourer brother and sister there. Wish more and more tranquilities in coming days for the members of Bolani Mazdoor Sangh and the whole labourers’ world on this earth. Shramik Ekta-Zindabad.
