‘Patha Padhibi, Kalia Ghoda re Chadhibi; Madhu Babu Sange Ladhibi’- verse is still murmured by an Odia pupil of vernacular class. Madhu Babu, the architect of modern Odisha has rewritten our fate in the annals of the country. Born on 28 April, 1948 at Satyabhamapur in Cuttack district, he was the first Odia to dream for integration of the then Odisha in a fractured state. ‘Utkal Sammilani’ was launched by the ‘Utkal Gourav’ in 1903 at the Idgah ground in Cuttack. He never looked back since then. Utkal i.e. Odisha retained its special identity as a province on linguistic basis in the year of 1936 following an untiring struggle of this ‘Kula Bruddha’ for long 33 years. ‘Utlal Sammilani’ has been striving hard for the causes of our fellow Odia inhabitants in neighboring states since 109 years incessantly. Great Madhu Babu was an internationally acclaimed legal professional for his inimitable intelligence and rare ready wit. It was Madhu Babu, who could curtail the orthodox apartment and motor vehicle act of Britain. He was popularly known as ‘Madhu Barrister’, all over the world. Pen and paper can’t suffice to sketch the innumerable deeds of Madhu Babu, which could register the identity of Odisha in global log. We observed his birth anniversary on the 28th April. But with utmost grief, I want to write my discontentment over the style of our state government to remember the creator of our state. Observance of this historic day should be at par with the celebration of ‘Rath Yatra’ or ‘Utkal Divas’. Due to him, my mother tongue ‘Odia’ is recognized by the rest of the world. So, it is our first and foremost responsibility to see that, reminiscence in regards to our ‘Kula Bruddha’ must not be taken so lightly. On the part of Odisha, Madhu Babu is above any political or social leader of the country. Satyabhamapur is ‘Shriksetra’ and ‘Gora Kabar’ is ‘Swarga Dwar’ for any Odia speaking individual. Every quarters of the state must be taught and compelled to commemorate the nostalgia, linked with Madhu Babu with that spirit of ‘Rath Yatra’ or ‘Raja Sankranti’. I offer my heartfelt tribute to the Great Soul with bowing down my head and pray Him for blessings on his ‘dream province’ to reach the zenith.
